GFCI Won't Reset or Outlets Stopped Working?
The fix is often a GFCI in another room — sometimes it's water or a failed device
GFCI trips again the moment you reset it, or there's water near it? Leave it off and call.

GFCI outlets shut off power when they detect current leaking to ground. One GFCI can protect several outlets in other rooms, so dead outlets are often fixed by finding and resetting the right GFCI — unless something is causing it to trip. Xlectrical's licensed electricians (Florida License EC 13014052) answer 24/7 from Sunrise and serve all of Broward County. The emergency service call is $299 and is applied toward the repair.
Fire, smoke or someone shocked? Call 911 first. Whole street dark? Report it to FPL at 1-800-4OUTAGE.

Outdoor GFCIs on patios, lanais and pool areas trip after heavy rain when water gets into covers or boxes. Garage GFCIs trip with refrigerators and freezers that have aging defrost heaters. Bathroom GFCIs often protect outlets in other bathrooms, so a dead outlet upstairs may be fixed by resetting one downstairs.
Pool and spa equipment, pool lights and dock outlets require ground-fault protection by code. A GFCI that trips there should be checked by a licensed electrician — never bypassed. See our dock and outdoor lighting work.
Most GFCI problems are solved on the first visit. The emergency service call is $299, applied toward the repair when you approve it; standard GFCI replacement pricing is on our price list.

Most often there's no power to it because of a tripped breaker or another GFCI upstream. If it has power and still won't reset, something on the circuit is causing a ground fault or the GFCI has failed.
A single GFCI can protect outlets in other rooms. Check every GFCI in bathrooms, the kitchen, garage and outdoors.
Water is getting into an outlet, cover, box or underground wire. The fix is to find and seal or replace the wet part, not to remove the GFCI.
They can wear out after years of service and should be tested monthly with the TEST button. If one won't reset after testing, it may need replacement.
Call any time, day or night. We'll walk you through what to do safely and give you an arrival window.
